JOBS

Summer jobs are available from the Student Conservation Association.  They advertize these as "Interships"  and it mauy be possible to arrange for internship credit  but there is not direct relationship between the two.  Check out their web site by going to www.theSCA.org    Most of you will probably be interested in their conservation internships but there are other opportunities.

Some of the following web sites provide salary ranges for ecologically associated jobs.   Only one web site was able to provide a summary of job scales (for US government employees), which is:

                                www.opm.gov/oca/2000tbls/GSannual/INDEX.HTM

The following other sites are job boards (a number of which include a description of job skills and associated wages) which may be of interest to many of you:

Texas A&M Univ., Dept. of Fish. & Wildl. job search page      http://wfscnet.tamu.edu/jobboard/index.htm
(The A&M site is very good.  It not only lists jobs but also graduate programs)

State Governments - The following website by the US Fish & Wildlife Service has links to most state government agencies.  Specifically, it liinks to all state fish & wildlife sites.

        www.fws.gov/offices/statelinks.html

From the VA Natural Heritage Program sit (VANHP) you can get to just about any Natural Heritage Program site in all states and elsewhere.  In addition there are links to other government and private agencies and most of them list jobs.
