Hanisch, Kathy A. 1999. Job Loss and Unemployment Research from 1994 to 1998: A Review and Recommendations for Research and Intervention. Journal of Vocational Behavior 55:188-220.
The objective of this article is to establish the reasons for unemployment in the United States for the period of 1994-1998, as well as ways to reduce unemployment. There were several points in this article. One was to explore different areas of knowledge, such as psychology, to explore its connection with organizational productivity, to assist in getting a better understanding of unemployment, and to establish the reasons for it. Another aspect was to determine the effects of unemployment on the individual, as well as society. It also looked at finding multiple ways to handle unemployment, including reemployment in the right job areas for people. Lack of education is examined to see the effect it has on unemployment. The finding was that higher educational attainment leads to more employment and that variables like the economy and layoffs need to be studied more in order to understand how they affect unemployment.
